What changes to the laws of the game would you like to see?

I get frustrated seeing players diving and going down like someone shot them; I would like to see yellow cards given for these theatrics. I also hate the moaning and whining from players as they contest and moan about every decision the ref makes. Crowding the ref, with players surrounding him seems to be used as a tactic by certain clubs. Again, I would like to see yellow cards for this form of dissent and make the captain the only player that the ref talks to. Then there's VAR!

keep the match clock running after the 90 mins on the pitch scoreboard when the ref adds 5mins of injury time. its painful going sometimes!

Refs should have a points system based on how they perform.

Top 3 get an additional bonus, bottom 3 get relegated to the lower divisions. Higher they finish in the league table the bigger their salary.

I'd like to see the recent change in the law (or practise) about the ball hitting the referee rescinded. Since the year dot, the referee was considered part of the field of play and if the ball bounced of him that was just part of the game.

This is actually the case now. The attacking side can take the free kick immediately, providing the ball is stationery and in the right place. The defending side not penalised, if the ball hits one of their players within 10 yards of the ball, as they haven't been given the chance to retreat.

If you have a manager that is blatantly killing your club supporters should be allowed to arm themselves with half a house brick to cave said managers face in should the opportunity arise.

The attacking player is given the ball on the centre spot, and he needs to dribble, run, kick etc. while the goalie can try to take the ball off of him. Sounds fun to me and certainly an upgrade from the current situation.

Was used in the1970's in the USA, in their early MLS, when draws weren't allowed (from 35 yards out).

Something very similar is used in Field Hockey, where the attacker starts on the 25 yard line and has 8 seconds to score.

I read somewhere a novel and exciting method to replace penalty kicks after extra time. The attacking player is given the ball on the centre spot, and he needs to dribble, run, kick etc. while the goalie can try to take the ball off of him. Sounds fun to me and certainly an upgrade from the current situation.

the laws work if there is no corruption. Which you will never root out. We have seen even with VAR bent decisions are supported by the "authorities" because to acknowledge it goes on would threaten "the integrity of the game". It is not about football anymore forget that it is all about money and how much they can skim from it while the punters keep on coming back.

Yep, been plugging this one for years, find it truly baffling that a player can make the most cynical challenge ever, without the opposition on the ascendancy, yet the game gets stopped and the offending team is protected. Very fucking strange, especially if the ref is not going to give a booking.

It sounds like a good idea on the surface, but zero points for a 0-0 draw probably wouldn't change things for the better. You'd still get teams parking the bus and hoping to snatch a 1-0 win, while a team who goes all out to attack and peppers the opposition goal could end up with nothing, so you're punishing the team who've put in a great defensive display while failing to reward the team who have at least tried to attack. Maybe something like 1 point for 0-0, 2 points for a score draw and 4 for a win might work better. Probably not though.

Definitely agree about int'l manager eligibility.

Zero points for a 0-0 draw.

In international football, managers and coaches also have to eligible for the country they manage.

If a home team has 10%+ less possession than the visitors the manager can be sacked with zero compensation paid.



Panel to review the game week and if any player is deemed to have dived or play acted - they receive a 6 game ban.


In cup games, at the end of extra time, if game is still tied, every 5 mins each team has to remove a player - the player removed is decided by the opposition manager.

Or if that amazing idea isn’t taken up, if penalties go through the whole team, then the managers take the 12th.

Manchester City should have a handicap next season to balance things up and give everyone else a chance.

Erling Haaland can only play first half and his dad Alf Inge has to play the second half.

That wouldn't actually be a change to the law. Refs with a bit of spine would be enough

Get rid of VAR.

Any player down for 10 seconds is immediately shipped off the pitch and can't come back on for 1 minute. Play continues.

Retrospective cards for diving.

Replay checks for skullduggery. Lots happened today in the Sunderland game which the ref didn't see.

Fock VAR right off and retrospectively ban divers and deduct points from teams with serial offenders (divers).
